Digital Marketing for Beginners- From a Beginner's POV
I Lost Money Trading Crypto—Here’s What I Wish I Knew Before I Got Started
Just like many others, I’ve been sucked into the hype of cryptocurrency and trading, I get it. I was there too. A few months ago, I thought I had finally found the key to financial freedom. I jumped into crypto trading, thinking I could make a quick turnover. Fast forward, and I ended up losing more money than I’m comfortable admitting. If you’re thinking about getting into crypto or any form of online money-making, then this post is for you.
I Lost $1000 in Crypto—Here’s What You Need to Know to Avoid Scams

When I first started, I was all about ‘get rich quick.’ I saw success stories of people making thousands in days, and I wanted in. But I didn’t fully understand the risks. Not because a method may work for one person means it will work for you. What nourishes one flower may drown another. I ignored warnings about scams, didn’t do enough research, and even invested in coins I couldn’t properly track. My first mistake? Not treating crypto like an investment but more like a lottery ticket, a thing where I need not to put effort. That’s where the trouble started.
I was given an opportunity to follow daily trade signals that guaranteed all wins and no loss, hmm sounds too good to be true right? Well, I didn’t care I was so excited and easily gullible I couldn’t have seen the red flags that were right in my face.
Here are 3 things I wish someone had told me before I dived into crypto:
- Do your research: Don’t just buy the hype. There are thousands of cryptocurrencies out there, and many are risky, unproven, or flat-out scams. Start with the basics; Bitcoin, Ethereum, and learn from there.
- Never invest more than you can afford to lose: I made the mistake of putting in money I couldn’t afford to lose. Big mistake. Only invest what you’re prepared to lose without it impacting your life.
- Watch out for ‘too good to be true’ offers: I got involved with a few crypto projects promising huge returns in short amounts of time. Guess what? They were scams. If an offer sounds too good to be true, it probably is.
How I Started My Journey In Digital Marketing
After losing money in crypto, I realized that I wanted to make money in a more sustainable, proven way. That’s when I found digital marketing. Unlike crypto, digital marketing is skill that you can learn, build slowly, and even get paid for by offering services like SEO, social media management, and content creation. I’ve signed up for a digital marketing course to learn how to create real income without the risk of scams. So, if you’re looking for a way to earn from home but want something more stable than trading or investing, this might be the perfect solution.
I’m currently registered with Max Business School that offers a free digital marketing course on Skool. Yes, FREE! Most times when people are offered something that is free, they tend to value it less. But no, not me, I am grasping this opportunity as much as I can because this allows me to improve myself. At Max Business School you are able to work on your own time, meaning there are no deadlines. You can finish the course as soon as one month or as long as six months, it all depends on you. My only disadvantage to this is that at times I may have no motivation and procrastinate at finishing my assignments. This course has a total of seven modules and I’m at the second module from one month of joining. Yes, I know I can do better but at the end of the day we’re all humans. At the end of the course, you can be eligible for a certificate of Digital Marketing if you choose to do all the assignments. The assignments are structured in a way to be highly practical and essential to learn the skillset of said course.
